But since no other character/account/player information is made available, I'm not sure what a hacker/scammer could really benefit from it that they couldn't benefit from just by watching the trade-spam in-game.
This.

Moreso, if the site got popularised and not taken down by ANet, it advertises the sellers much more than spamming in Kama + having an active sell thread here, so it's actually a win situation for them.

Yeah I know, logically there's no link between character name and account info in the game itself so it doesn't really matter... it just seems wrong to have it recorded like that, for no real reason I can put my finger on. Anyways, if the software's clean it's a v fast one-stop-shop to find out an up-to-date price for things at long last, so I hope ANet check it out and approve it.

It's not software per se - to the end user it's just a website.

The owners of the site are breaking all kinds of copyright by making the site but you aren't by using it.

I like the idea, easily accessible PC. But I'm also sure the creator breaks the EULA.
Regular users arent breaking any rules by using such a site, since it doesnt manipulate or otherwise interfere with their gw client or the traffic between that player and anet servers.
I would like to see:
1. Names edited out
2. Approval by anet so the creator of it doesnt get banned for botting or whatever.

Another thing, is that it is possible to manipulate. I could regularly go on various chars and post WTB Bow of the hierophant 55 e and other differently worded posts with prices in that range with different chars and thus make believe its worth that hoping to get it sold at that price. (while its worth 30e or less)

Exactly. Go in game and you can see everyone's name.

The only reason it's not allowed on this forums is because u can link ign's to guru accounts. So you and others are horribly over-reacting.

Hey :

-IG name, can be crypted.
-the site owner is not, and was never banned for botting or smthg.
-In french comunity, the CM know this site and wait for give his opinion. (i think)

Btw u can't get banned for use this site, but the owner .... lets see.. (this site is up since ~ 2months or more)

I think this is a good idea, and it can only give good things to the community, im always sepaking with the creator and we had already speakd about the In game name problem, i think if community don't wanna see their Name on his site, he will crypt it.

Again, what for?
It's a useful way for the seller to get a wider audience of possible buyers, while NOT giving out anything to hijack his account, since everyone can see your char's name in game, it doesn't come with your e-mail address attached.

It may be interesting to see how many people posting in this thread start an "I was hacked!" thread in the coming months.

Seriously, I would want to have this checked out before I even click the link.

There's no way you can get hacked by this site, unless it silently installs some kind of keylogger on your machine, but i haven't noticed anything of that kind. And if you kind that knowing one's in-game name is enough to hack him... just take a look at Ventari's.

Just don't use it to give pricing in PC forum please. Let's keep in mind that asking price is not proof of value.

I do wish they'd anonymize the character names so that it ceases being a convenient source for brute force account theft...
